Tinted Phantom Glow tutorial!
B) Yep, we're taking the Phantom Glow up to the next level. For this tutorial, we'll be playing around with a picture of Kon from the anime Bleach. Below are 4 images grouped into one. The first image, the original, is untouched and is what you'll be experimenting with in a moment. The second image is of a simple overlay. This occurs when you duplicate a layer and blend it with the original layer via overlay, a two second process ( basicaly a phantom glow without the glow/blur xD ). The third image is of a phantom glow, when you duplicate a layer, blur it, and blend it with the original layer via overlay. The final image is what we'll be trying to achieve today.

Ok, first copy the image below to Paint Shop Pro 8.

Now go up to Layers> Duplicate.
Example
The only change you should see is in your layer palette. A layer called "Copy of Background" should have appeared. Other than that, there should be no change in the image itself. Next, go to your layer palette and scroll over until you see the word 'normal' in your second column.
Example
If you click it, a drop down box appears. Find 'overlay' and select it. Your image should have changed a bit & should greatly resemble the second example in the 4 example box above. Next, go to Effects> Artistic Effects> Colored Edges.
Example
For this image in particular, I set my settings to Luminance: 31, Blur: 8; Intensity: 5, and Color: #850303. To set the color number, click the color box and find HTML. There should be a 6 digit number in the box next to it. Change it to '850303'.
Example 1
Example 2
Once your settings match mine, select 'Ok'. ^^ If you're image looks like the 4th example in the 4 example box, you're finished! When you're working with this effect, you can play around with the effects in the last stage. You can change how large you want the outline to be, how visible you want it to be, and what color you want the outline to be. Feel free to play around with it and see what you can come up with!
